International day for the elimination of violence against women. November 25th

    • What: show of the audiovisual entitled “Que inventen ellas: la mujer de ciencia y conocimiento en el cine español”, which reviews the representation of women of science throughout the history of Spanish fiction cinema between 1896 (date in which the cinematographer arrives in the country) and 2020.
    • Who: Fernando del Blanco Rodríguez, author of the book “En el ángulo ciego”.
    • To: commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25).

    In this documentary, based on films and characters related to science, an exploration is undertaken of how reality and fiction (actresses and social actors vs. film actresses and actors) are interpellated and replicated in contemporary Spanish society, composing and decomposing symbolic spaces of continuity and rupture in the imagination of women as creators of knowledge and science.

    The audiovisual is based on the book “En el ángulo ciego”. History of the representation of women of science and knowledge in Spanish cinema (1896-2020), whose author is Fernando del Blanco Rodríguez, who is part of the Equality Commission of the CID.

    This book has been published with the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

    After the film, there will be an open speaking session to ask or comment with the author about the documentary.
