    Date / Time: Tuesday, March 15th, 10:30 AM | ZOOM Online | 15|03|2022

Speaker: Dr. AlbertoBaena-Lopez, Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford

Title: “The new side of an old coin: non-apoptotic caspase functions in physiological and pathological scenarios”

Online seminar via Zoom. Please, members of IBMB, check your mailbox.

    Summary

Caspases have been mainly studied for their role as regulators of apoptosis. However recent investigations are showing their ability to modulate basic cellular processes (e.g., cell proliferation, differentiation or cell migration). During the seminar I will discuss a novel non-apoptotic and tumor supressor role of caspases in an induced tumor model highly relevant for humans. Additionally,  I will provide examples illustrating the pleiotropic and highly context dependent function of these evolutionarily conserved enzymes in physiological conditions.
