Summary

Dr. Fuentes-Prior performs structural and functional investigations of pathophysiologically relevant human proteins and their complexes. From this perspective, he will comment on the impact of recent advances in the prediction of the three-dimensional structure of proteins (AlphaFold). Dr. Fuentes-Prior compares predictions with experimental evidence relevant for some of the projects he is involved in, most notably those in which protein homodimerization plays a major role. Finally, Dr. Fuentes-Prior will present their current results on the molecular bases of the neurodegenerative disease, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
