Looking for new scientists at the Saló de l’Ensenyament

On Friday 16th March, we were at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas catalan delegation stand at the Saló de l’Ensenyament. During all the morning, we were explaining what is the Structural Biology Unit and our research work to secondary school students who are deciding about their future. Although they were not at the moment to decide starting a research career, we aimed to let them know that the possibility exists and what do they need to start a PhD training.

Also, we had a mini-laboratory where we showed them the fast crystallization process of the Ammonium Sulfate. They could manipulate all the instrumental to obtain the faster and bigger crystals in a Petri dish. For a moment, they could feel as a SBU researcher trying to obtain crystals.

This year , Saló de l’Ensenyament took place at the Fira de Montjuic (Barcelona) between 14 and 18 March and included a variety of activities, exhibits and workshops among others. It is directed to those students who have finished secondary education and need some professional and academic counselling.
