Research strategy at IBMB aims at understanding the molecular architecture and dynamics of the cellular systems.
At IBMB, research teams associated to the Department of Structural and Molecular Biology aim to uncover the regulation and function of macromolecular machines in multiple and sometimes short-lived subcellular assemblages. At a second degree of complexity, the Department of Cells and Tissues aim to connect IBMB research teams across the breadth of cell biology studying the regulation and consequences of organization of large biological complexes throughout the cell. The interactions between both departments foster the understanding of the structural bases of the life, and how malfunctioning of the macromolecular machines cause disease
